Falsewing

CHAPTER 4: Theories in babysitting a cannibal.

Goth took this chance to catch his mate off guard and plant a deep passionate kiss before she pushed him back down and continued with her tease.

"Siempre te amo, mi Rey de los Monstrous. Mi casa esta siempre en sus brazos."

"Nunca habra un dia donde alguna vez dejo de amarte, mi Senora Aburrida. Mi Corazon."

*************************************************************

As the Silverwing flew through the dense and shady jungle, she found it a bit strange, it was eerily quiet. Too quiet. Normally when she would fly to this area there were lots of birds and a few big cats around but what made today so different? Sure it's been about two months since she's been here, but she doubted her absence would make them leave. No other bat knew of this place but her. Still something was telling her to leave the area which she could not do. She had a bet to win.

"Where are we going Stella?" Chel asked as she glanced around the unfamiliar territory which fed onto her burning curiosity to explore the unknown area. "The trees look very welcoming huh Stella?"

"I told your parents we were gonna have fun and that's where we are headed: To have some fun." Stella answered some what annoyed. "Now pipe down We're not too far now."

"Okay if you say so." Chel said as she rubbed her eyes before playfully nuzzling Stella's mane. "Fluffy."

Stella couldn't help but smile back at the little problem enjoying herself.

Maybe the little vampyrum wasn't so bad. A bit irritating but adorable none the less. She was still the enemy of course. That Stella refused to forget.

A few minutes later Stella and Chel found themselves roosting above what the Silverwing considered to be the tallest tree in all of the jungle; with the most beautiful view to behold.

"We're so high up. You must have pretty strong wings to fly us all the way up here. So awesome!" Chel said with great admiration. "I hope I can be a great flyer like you one day." she added huddling closer to the Silverwing.

"You're Goth and Vera's daughter. Trust me you'll be a great flyer alright and a greater hunter." Stella said the last part with a bit disdain.

Stella looked onward towards the horizon. The warm rays of the sun bringing back an old memory. one of her favorites ironically. The first time Goth showed her the bright Sun. The day her life changed forever.

Chel lowered her ears and frowned when the little vampyrum noticed tears dripping down the Silverwing.

The little vampyrum carefully leaned closer to Stella and began to wipe them off before the Silverwing snapped back from her daze and roughly pushed her little problem away.

"What are you doing?" Stella asked baring her fangs at her.

"You were crying so I wanted to clear the water away." Chel replied with a sad look. "I'm sorry."

"Water?"

Stella wiped her eyes and then lowered her ears when she glanced back at the saddened little vampyrum, feeling like a pile of Zotz's guano.

"She was only worried about your well being and you go all 'RAWR stay away from me you little pest.' Pest? Careful Stella you're starting to sound just like Goth." Stella thought as she looked back at her silent little problem trying to apologize but wasn't sure how to.

"Was..Was it sad?" Chel asked moments later not wanting to look up at the Silverwing.

Stella's ears perked up and turned back her attention to her little problem.

"Was what sad."

"Whatever you were thinking."

"Curious little problem aren't you?" Stella thought as she sighed.

"No it was a good memory. Probably my second favorite actually." Stella said as she took a quick glance at the Sun.

"Was it the one when you saw the shiny big star for the first time perhaps?" Chel asked scooting back closer to the Silverwing. "Father told me that story a couple times. I liked the part where he saves you from that...that owl? Yeah that bird. I thought he was just joking when he said you were forbidden to see the bright light back in the North."

"It was the law where I came from. Not sure or care if it still is up there. Nothing nor anyone for me to go back to that northern hell hole." Stella said with a forced chuckle. "I have everything I need right here...or rather had."

Chel raised an eyebrow at the Silverwing's last comment confusedby what Stella meant by 'had' but thought it was best to stay silent about it. She'd ask later.

"Did Goth tell you anymore adventures of our journey to the South?" Stella asked cutting the short awkward silence between the two of them.

Chel nodded with a big smile.

"Yup! He told me many stories but if you don't think it's a bother I wouldn't mind hearing them from your point- of- view?" Chel asked with great admiration in her eyes. "Please, Stella?"

Stella turned away from her little problem looking back at those memories of Goth and all the obstacles and fun moments they had.

Stella thought it was best those memories belonged safe and sound hidden in her subconscious only for her to look back upon before she moved out. Envy slowly crept back in her mind toward the little problem.

Chel tugged gently on the Silverwing's wing pleading the older bat to fuel her imagination.

Stella mumbled in annoyance.

"I really don't feel like it right now---"

Stella froze as she turned back and noticed the adorable face the little problem had ever made. Her eyes were so big full of child innocence and wonder.

How in the hell could she say no to that trap? It was too much cute to witness. It burned!

"TOO CUTE!" Stella said almost mesmerized before she shook her head snapping back to reality no longer in that little problem's evil trance.

"Please?" Chel asked with a smile showing her almost fully developed fangs. "I promise to be quiet while you tell them. I promise."

Stella placed her palm over her face a sigh of defeat and regret escaping her mouth.

(Adorable-1. Envy-0.)

"I guess Axel is just going to have to wait on me a little bit longer." Stella muttered feeling defeated more like cornered by a cute predator. "It's gonna be a long long story so where would you prefer I start my little prob---er I mean little one? "

Chel cheered in triumph before she started bombarding questions at the regretful Silverwing with different scenes to begin the story with.

"What about the time where you two met that blind bat or the first time you paid a visit to Tio Heck ...Or how about when Father brought you back from the underworld with Grandpa's help."

Stella made a mental note to find a way to glue Goth's big mouth shut before she smacked her forehead with her palm again annoyed. Very annoyed.

"This was going to be a very very long day."

-------------------------------------------------------

A few meters away from where Stella and Chel were, a jaguar bolted through the forest floor at lightning speed.

"Pinche monstruos." The jaguar wheezed tiredly as it collasped moments later beside a cave. Visible claw and bite marks noticeable as he tried to drag his bleeding paws towards the cave. "Damn those little vermin."

Two Banished nearby heard the painful moans and roosted near the jaguar's side in shock to see such carnage and blood all over the giant cat's body. It was barbaric even for a vampyrum to do.

"Amigo, who...what did this to you?" one of the vampyrum asked noticing a few scattered bite marks he had never seen.

"Idiotas, fly as far away from here as you can... before they... get you as well. They appeared from...the shadows. Esos malditos murcielagos." the jaguar muttered before he passed away, a puddle of thick crimson blood forming underneath the big cat's neck.

One of the Banished foot soldiers swooped down to check the jaguar's pulse and shook his head to his fellow comrade. What bat in the entire jungle could kill a top apex predator each wondered.

"These bite marks on his neck. They go deeper than any of our kind." The other Banished noted as he examined the claw marks next. "It looks like he didn't die of his wounds but those from a large amount of extracted blood loss?"

"Are you saying mosquitoes killed him?" The Banished foot soldier asked the other chuckling at such nonsense. "Didn't he say bats did this?"

"He must have been in shock and light headed. From all my years living in this jungle have you ever heard of a bat doing something like this to a single jaguar?" The other Banished foot soldier stated as he looked around the area noticing the sudden silence around them. "It takes twenty of our strongest to barely ward off any invading giant cat but these markings seem to be those of a single creature."

"We must go inform Chief Hell of this. We could be facing a new threat." The Banished foot soldier said as he took flight.

The Banished foot soldier turned and noticed his comrade had disappeared along with the jaguar's corpse.

"Ay Cabron. This isn't funny. Donde estas?"
He asked himself some what afraid. "Que en nombre de Dios esta pasando?"

The Banished foot soldier heard a loud thud to his right and slowly turned around not liking the scent he was picking up.

The soldier's eyes widened, releasing a loud scream before it too was quickly silenced, replaced by a low cruel chuckle echoing in the wind.

"Su sangre no tiene un sabor tan malo. Gracias Amigo."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After filling her little problem's head with stories of her adventures with Goth. Stella told her little problem it was time to move on and head out to their next destination. 'Their' next destination?

A trip to visit her lover her best friend, Axel.

"Axel?"Chel asked trying to remember that name but couldn't quite put a finger on where she'd heard that name before.

"He and his father came to visit when you were first born. Doubt you'd remember their faces. They live in the other half of the kingdom so it's gonna be a while until I get us there." Stella said as she placed her little problem on her back and started flying towards their new destination. "I'm sure your father has mentioned him before." she laughed knowing full well the nickname Goth gave Axel a long while back when they first met.

"Okay. He sounds nice but Stella you don't mind continuing your side of the story when you went back to the North with Father." Chel pleaded getting ready to unleash 'the face' if she was refused. She had to make certain of something.

Stella knew it in her gut this child, if not the other dangers lurking on their way, were going to be the end of her, and sighed in defeat yet again as she flew through some loose vines. Hating this young innocent vampyrum was very frustrating work. The little problem was just to adorable!

Moments later after dodging snakes, rude vultures, and a jaguar or two at Stella's expense they had finally neared the southern side of the vampyrum colony.

"So was it easy meeting your formal colony? Your real---"

"THAT BAT IS NOTHING TO ME!" Stella yelled startling her little problem. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you... Meeting the kind of bat Amon turned out to be. It was a big let down."

Chel felt very bad on her part re-opening old wounds. She didn't want to see Stella sad faced.

"You don't need to continue Stella. It's okay if you wanna stop." Chel said feeling bad for bringing up a personal subject.

Stella shook her head before she flew under some clustered branches.

"Goth was going to kill him for being a pathetic piece of crap and gladly wanted to do the world a favor and get rid of it's crap." She stated a bit sad. "But I was tired of seeing so much bloodshed. I just wanted to let Amon and the rest of the colony know that I finally moved on with my life and wanted nothing to do with them. I doubt they cared anyway."

Chel hugged the tearful Silverwing and rested her head on her mane. She was very thankful her own father was crazy and not heartless like Stella's own dad turned out to be.

"It was hard but I was grateful Goth was there with me the entire time. Although he just wanted a chance to rip Amon's heart out. Regardless I didn't want him to have the luxury of seeing my mother just yet though. Amon hated me for taking his soulmate from him but at the same time I was grateful to both of them at the chance of life. It sucked at first being alone, a bad luck bringer is what they would call me. In the end it turned into a positive. All that bad luck brought me to Goth. He was more a fath--- teacher than Amon could ever wish to be."

"That was beautiful." Chel said wiping her eyes trying her hardest not to cry like a new born. Her father had told her ten month olds did not cry but this story was very depressing.

Stella made a faint smile at her little problem.

"Thanks f...for listening Chel."

Chel flustered in embarrassment as her stomach began to make loud grumbling noises.

"Uhm...Stella?"

Stella seemed a tad worried carrying a hungry Vampyrum on her back.

"You're not going to try to bite my ears off are you?" Stella asked feeling some what uneasy at the thought.

Chel began to laugh at that idea and shook her head.

"Why would I, Stella?" Chel asked scratching her head.

"Oh no reason. Don't worry. I'm sure Axel has some food to spare you." Stella reassured her little problem noticing Chel's stomach grumbling again. "Besides I'm pretty positive Hell would like to eat with his sobrina. Won't he be surprised to see how much you've grown."

"Tio Heck!" Chel cheered. "Mother mentioned his arguments with father are almost as funny as yours and his."

"Geez, I'm glad our anger towards each other fuels your laughter." Stella frowned. "Just be on your best behavior okay. Hell...he barely started tolerating me visiting his neck of the woods since last year. I think he still hates me for---"

Stella shook her head remaining silent as she flew onward.

Chel lowered her ears remembering a story her father told her only once, never retelling it to her ever again.

"You okay? I don't look tasty to you right?" Stella asked chuckling a bit as she took notice of the sad face etched on her little problem. "Chel?"

Chel hesitated a bit knowing full well it was probably a bad idea to ask this question but she needed to know of her family's history. The good and the bad.

"What was Tia Flora like?"

Stella stopped mid- air for a quick moment surprised by her little problem's question before she continued onward deciding how to approach the sensitive question in matter not sure what to say.

"I'm sorry Stella. Father always got silent when I asked about her too. I'll be quiet now." Chel said not wanting to see the Silverwing any more upset.

Stella took a deep breathe and exhaled calmly before she spoke.

"In the short time I got to know her your late aunt was by far the strongest and most courageous bat I have ever known next to your father of course. She also saw the good in Goth like me. Flora was very protective and would do everything in her very being to protect the one's she loved even that of a bad luck bringer like me. Regardless if it meant losing her own life in the process."

Chel looked up at the warm clear sky and rubbed her eyes as she could of sworn she saw two other bats flying beside them, two transparent ghost like bats that resembled her late aunt and another small bat that looked like Stella. She must be really hungry or she actually saw real spirits she teased.

Stella on her part felt a slight warm breeze brush against her fur and glanced around feeling as if the gust of wind came from another bat flapping it's wings close to them. Why did it feel nice?

"Father said nothing truly dies. Maybe those we care about never stop loving us from beyond the grave." Chel said with a smile. "I think that's how he told it to me before anyway."

Stella smiled and couldn't help but admire her little problem always appearing to look on the brighter side of any situation. Goth and Vera were going to raise a great bat indeed. NOT that she cared or anything. Chel was still her little problem after all. Even though her heart kept scolding the ignorant Silverwing. Why was hating someone so innocent so young hard to do? Was Goth thinking the same way about her when he found her? When they first found each other?

"Hey maybe they like watching you and Father argue as well. You two fight over the weirdest things." Chel giggled as she tightened her hug on the Silverwing. "Like the time you two argued over each others' bands to see who's hasd the most battle scratches on it or the time...."

Stella pouted frowning as her little problem continued on and on with each story. Her strong dislike for the little Vampyrum swiftly returning again.

"Where's the lightning when you need it?" Stella sighed as she continued flying past more loose vines and branches. Maybe seeing Axel would calm her a bit? His smile usually did the trick. Her Vampyrum stud.
